What Is BizTown®?
BizTown is an immersive, hands-on learning experience where 5th-grade students run a city for a day—taking on real jobs, managing money, and making decisions that mirror adult life.
Before Arrival to BizTown:
Students prepare in the classroom by:
Creating business plans
Learning workplace roles
Exploring careers
Understanding how consumers and businesses interact
At BizTown:
Students become citizens in a student-sized city where they:
Work real jobs and earn paychecks
Pay rent, taxes, and utilities
Manage bank accounts and insurance
Serve customers and operate businesses
Vote, lead, and collaborate as a community
With guidance from volunteer mentors, students make real decisions—and experience real consequences—in a safe, engaging environment.
The result:
BizTown builds confidence, responsibility, and real-world readiness—giving students a powerful first look at their future and the belief that they can succeed in it.
